We've expanded our Perl news coverage and improved our search! Search for all things Perl across O'Reilly! Finance CBB - A Personal Finance Manager for Unix and X11 CBB is a personal financial management application written in Tcl/Tk and Perl. Development started in August of 1994, and the first usable version was available sometime in October of that same year. This program is for anyone who would like to balance their checkbook and manage their money using free software under Unix and X11. Finance::MoneyNetSymbolLookup This module looks up stock symbols from MoneyNet. Finance::QuoteHist The Finance-QuoteHist bundle is several modules designed to fetch historical stock quotes from the Web. Finance::YahooChart This module gets charts from Yahoo! Finance. The only function in the module is the getchart function, which takes the stock symbol, size of the chart (b for big, s for small), the type of chart (i for intraday, w for week, 3 for 3-month, 1 for 1-year, 2 for 2-year, and 5 for 5-year), and any extra information to include (s for a comparison to the S∓P 500, m for a moving average). Finance::YahooQuote Finance::YahooQuote allows you to obtain a (15-20-minute delayed) stock quote from Yahoo! Finance. Two functions are provided: getquote, which takes an array of stock symbols, and getonequote, which takes a single stock symbol. getquotes Neat little program to lookup and display quotes from finance.yahoo.com. Includes robust caching so it's fast enough to run from your .bash_profile. Does not even load the http libs when displaying cached information. Documentation included in the file in POD format. getstock getstock helps You to get the current state of your stock capital every time you connect to the internet. It will autmatically connect to the yahoo finance service and get the ratings of your shares. You don' t need to register at yahoo. No personal data will transmitted to them. smtm smtm, which is a not overly clever acronym for Show Me The Money, is a simple stock ticker application for quotes from exchanges around the world (as long as they are carried on Yahoo!, that is). Currently supported are the US, Canada, various European countries such the UK, France, Germany, and Italy as well as Australia and New Zealand. smtm creates and automatically updates a window with stock quotes from Yahoo! Finance (and corresponding sites for non-North American quotes). When called with one or several stock symbols, it displays these selected stocks, and also records the symbols for later use. When smtm is called without arguments, it reads the symbols tickers from a (default or specified) file. This file can be created explicitly by calling the Save option from the File menu, or implicitly whenever smtm is called with one or more symbols. Yahoo Stock Quotes David Turley provides an demonstration of the Finance::YahooQuote and Finance::MoneyNetSymbolLookup modules by Dj Padzensky.
